I have been a part-time GP Principal at Salisbury Road since 1995, and a trainer since December 2003. I am married with two school-age children. I have always had an interest in education, being regularly involved in teaching medical students, and for three years, I was an Associate GP Tutor. I was a founder member of our Young (now ageing!) Principals Group. My interests include sailing and tennis. |

The Practice
|
Salisbury Road Practice is situated in Southsea, not far from the seafront. Our practice population is approximately 6,100 patients.
We have six doctors working from 2-7 sessions a week including one salaried partner and one retained doctor, three nurses, and a full complement of attached staff. We have a varied population, with an emphais on an elderly population.
We have an active patients' association, supported by our senior partner and enthusiastic practice manager, Mrs Janice Matthews. |
Training at Salisbury Road
|
Salisbury Road is a friendly practice, with partners and staff who are very keen to teach. You would see a wide range of age groups and clinical problems across a broad spectrum of patients. The practice is involved in teaching and training medical students, F2 and ST1/2/3.
Our aim is to provide an environment where the registrar feels well supported by the whole team, with protected time for teaching - including tutorials and monthly TARGET meetings.
We aim to foster and encourage independent learning, as well as providing structure and support.
Two registrars who trained with us have stayed on to work at the practice. |
